Guidelines for exporting processed meat products, e.g. Prime Cuts, Bacon and Sausages.
The following requirements apply:
1.Export Health Certificate from Veterinary Services under the Ministry of Livestock, Kabete.
2.Processing license from Veterinary Services. They will inspect your facility to ensure all requirements are met, e.g. hygiene, processing standards, production quality management before issuing the processing license. Otherwise outsourcing an already export licensed abattoir like Kenya Meat Commission will suffice.
3.Processing License is automatically given to all food processing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificate holders.
4.Health Certificate. Every shipment will be accompanied by a health certificate from Veterinary Services under the Ministry of Livestock, Kabete.
5.Certificate of Origin: Every shipment will be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Customs Department or Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry depending on the country of destination.
6.Importing country other requirements: The importing country may specify other requirements. The information on the particulars is obtainable from the Veterinary Services under the Ministry of Livestock, Kabete, who is the competent authority when it comes to Animal and Animal products in Kenya.
