Kenya’s Bethwel Yegon won the first ever expo fun run at the Expo 2020 Dubai held at the expo site in Dubai on 19th November 2021. Yegon, whose discipline is the marathon was among the Kenyan athletes who participated in the event. The event is the first ever Expo Run and  has routes of 3 kilometers, 4 kilometers and 5 kilometers. Around 10, 000 runners were expected to take part in the run, which is a highlight of this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge.

This week we celebrate Kennedy Odede a community organizer and social entrepreneur who is dedicated to improving the quality of life communities in low income areas.

In 2004 Kennedy Odede started SHOFCO (Shining Hope for Communities) a grassroots movement that catalyses large-scale transformation in urban slums. Today SHOFCO system filters water and sends it to kiosks while avoiding contamination and provides children in slums with scholarships and opportunities for education. More https://bit.ly/3AJIln0

Dr Amoth

Dr.Patrick Amoth, the acting Director-General in the Ministry of Health, was appointed the Chairperson of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of 34 members. The World Health Assembly, considering an equitable geographical distribution, elects the Members entitled to designate a person to serve on the Board. Kenya was elected to the Executive Board in 2019, and was previously represented by Dr. Masasabi John, until January 2020, when Dr. Amoth was appointed as the substantive Member. Dr. Amoth is a medical doctor with a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree in Obstetrics/Gynaecology from University of Nairobi. More https://bit.ly/3qZ6UHR
