The President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta opened a new chancery in Switzerland to strengthen trade ties between Kenya and Switzerland. The opening of the new chancery will bolster the burgeoning bilateral trade, which has been on the rise, with Kenyan exports totaling KSh4.8 billion while imports from Switzerland standing at KSh8 billion yearly.
Kenya is Switzerland's 16th largest African trade partner. Despite the trade balance favoring Switzerland, Kenya has continued to boost its coffee, tea, and horticulture exports.
In 2021, bilateral trade was brisk, with Kenya serving as Switzerland's primary source of cut flowers.
Herbicides, fungicides, chemicals, paints, machinery, and pharmaceuticals are among the items imported from Switzerland to Kenya.
